The 6-Second Experiment

Two resumes will appear on your video screen, each for just six seconds—no more, no less. During that time, pay close attention to where your eyes go first, what you notice immediately, and which information stands out most. Don’t worry about memorizing the details—that’s not the point of this exercise.

Once the resume disappears, take a moment to reflect on the following:

• What were your first thoughts about the resume?
• What information did you look at? What stood out?
• How did your eyes move across the page? What did you read first?

Each resume will be shown only once.
